VOTE.BALLOT

SCOPE

When the 2020 presidential election was in full swing, the client asked for a fun animated 2D short that encouraged voters to get out and participate. Ballot the Dog already existed in 2D form and I encouraged the client to let us dive into 3D, to engage the audience and create repurposable assets for future Ballot projects.

PROCESS

The 2D character drawings were interpreted into a 3D model with the resolution to transition from a 4-legged pose to standing without a sculptural morph required. The need was to create a flexible, animatable skeleton and controllers with the ability to easily animate Ballot standing, or on all for fours.

Ballot was rigged in Cinema 4D and rendered in real time with Octane, which provided the ability to see lighting and simple surfaces with no render times.

RESULT

The final Ballot animation is engaging and sweet while staying neutral to all voters. The video has been viewed over 10,000 times.
